The Magic of Light - Exploring photography
The Magic of Light
Get to know your DSLR camera through a creative understanding of light and photography, have more control over your approach whilst developing your unique way of making photographic images.
This project will introduce you to the manual settings on your camera, understand what aperture, depth of field and ISO all mean to help you develop your creative eye.
You will explore how other photographers use light, undertake a series of projects and work in a small group to support ideas and feedback. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of controlling light with your camera whilst supporting your creative approach to capturing unique images.
With smatterings of poetry, philosophy and use of narrative thrown in, this will open up your photographic practice and skills.
If you are keen to participate but do not have a DSLR you would be able to complete the projects with a camera phone but will miss the practice of applying some of the technical detail, however the fundamental principles and creative approaches will support your understanding of what makes a good image and will be useful if you do go on to purchase a DSLR camera.
This course will run over a four week period and will include access to videos, online group meetings and lectures, alongside weekly tasks to put the theory and ideas into practice.
